Monkey trouble on the sets of Jigariya

Shooting in Mathura will go down as one of the scariest and costliest affairs for the makers of Jigariya. It so happened, that while shooting the cast and crew had a rather weird problem. Monkeys used to attack the film’s sets every day. Producer Vinod Bachchan spent a whopping 25 thousand rupees per day for 25 days to hire 25 langoors to protect the sets.

“ Yes, this happened during our shoot in Mathura. We were not aware of the aggressive nature of the monkeys there. More than surprised, we were scared as they use to come in big groups and attack the sets and damage the equipment.
Once they even took our heroine’s dupatta.
They took my mobile and then we had to lure them in with food to get these things back. It was terrible dealing with them,” says Vinod.
But thanks to a unit member’s idea to hire langoors, the problem was finally taken care off.
“ The monkeys use to attack the sets almost everyday. We were tired and scared too. We were even scared of eating food on the sets. Then a unit member suggested me to hire langoors which cost me 2,500 per langoor. We hired 10 such langoors who used to stand at every corner of the set.
With the help of these langoors, we completed the shoot,” Vinod adds.
