Picks&Piques/Snippet Film Reviews 28Mar2014/Johnson Thomas
O Teri(Hindi) Rating: * ½ Tiresome and mindless re-positioning of the ‘Jaane Bhi Do yaaron’ storyline. Lacks both intelligence and wit. The pouty preening of Pulkit Samrat and the unstoppable testosterone flashing posturing  by Bilal Amrohi only piles on more misery!
Dishkiyaoon(Hindi) Rating: *  * Violence begets violence. The story is age old and so passé that you feel drained after having to sit through yet another no rules barred power-play on the underworld.
Youngistaan(Hindi) Rating: * * ½ A young 28 yrNRI faces a shocking life-turn and becomes PM of India. On love, age-old expectations and filial responsibilities, this one is no ‘Inquilaab’, ‘Aaj ka MLA’ or ‘Nayak’. It’s a fresher take, has some hummable songs and topicality(election season ) but the narration is so shifty and discontinuous that tedium stares you in the face soon enough.
Sabotage(English) Rating: *  * An anti-drug-trafficking DEA unit finds itself on the opposite side of the firing line. Bad performances, lack of consistent tension and disengaging treatment ruin any enjoyment derived from the sporadic fit-fire action.
Noah(3D/English) Rating: *  *  It’s far more introspective and darker than the traditional Biblical epic. The trendy ponderous treatment though doesn’t allow for any deep engagement.
Taptapadi(Marathi) Rating: *  *  * Rabindranath Tagore’s short Story ‘Dhrustidaan’ gets a sublime Maharashtrian makeover. Stirring empathy and subtle engagement with Solid performances and unadulterated period treatment, this one is quite  memorable.
