Hate Story 2, Bollywood Hindi Film movie review, Johnson Thomas, Rating: *  *

#HateStory2(Hindi) Rating: *  * Erotic revenge drama that tries hard to draw it’s strength from scantily clad women, bold bedroom scenes and an extra dose of #SunnyLeone as a sensuous item. New leads #SurveenChawla and #JayBhanushali don’t add up to much and the experience is more banal than arousing! #VishalPandya #SushantSingh #VikramBhatt #BhushanKumar

Hindi Film Review

Shameful intent, Disengaging content
Film: Hate Story 2
Cast: Surveen Chawla, Jay Bhanushali, Sushant Singh, Siddharth Kher
Director: Vishal Pandya

Rating: * ½

Steamy attempt at Revenge drama comes unstuck because the plot is just too thin and the intent a tad too shameful. That’s not to say the lust inclined audience will not go for it.

Debutant director Vishal Pandya takes on the onus of re-enacting the pathways to another sleeper hit. It’s not exactly a sequel, just another brand extension with altogether new story, leads, director, but the intentions are the same as ‘Hate Story’ - lure in the unsuspecting audience with visuals of scantily clad women, lustily picturised sequences,  sensuously enacted item songs and soulful music.

A vile politician(Sushant Singh) lusts after a beautiful woman photographer(Surveen Chawla) who is in love with Akshay(Jay Bhanushali). Obviously one of the two suitors have to give way. So the Politician and his henchmen slay Akshay and the coveted woman rises against her lover’s murderers, leading to a series of titillating sequences and brutal killings.
There’s nothing new on show other than the change of guard in the directorial and lead departments. It’s all predictable and shamefully brazen in enactment.  Surveen Chawla, though competent in terms of performance doesn’t have the earthy sensuality that the dusky Bengali siren Paoli Dham lent to her role in the original. So eroticism goes amiss. Jay Bhanushali has little to do while Sushant Singh makes a good go at menace. Vishal Pandya can do little other than steam up the experience. It’s just not arousing enough to venture into the theatres!
